As you work more and more within Planhat, you're likely to find yourself using stock sentences, technical explanations, and paragraph structures on a recurring basis. It can be time consuming and frustrating to keep typing the same text again and again. To help streamline your note-taking, whether you are communicating with your team or for your own reference, you can now add "snippets" in your notes and task descriptions. Please note that Snippets will not be available in Email for this version, but stay tuned for more updates!

πŸ“Œ Make sure you populate your Snippets library first!

Planhat Snippets lets you import text into your notes and tasks. Simply write # followed by a Snippet name in the text box, e.g. #meeting-notes, and if you have saved a Snippet with this name, you will be able to select it from a drop-down menu and automatically populate the box with text. This way you can import several lines of text that you otherwise would have written manually - and repeatedly!

Snippets

For descriptions in Tasks and Conversations, and for Notes throughout Planhat, you can now insert custom-made Snippet templates so that you don't have to spend as much time typing out the same content.

This is especially useful for:

  • Meeting notes: importing a structure for your notes, like key take-aways for renewal discussions, or next steps

  • Task descriptions: if you are repeatedly setting the same tasks, make a Snippet that allows you to quickly select the right description. (This can also be solved using template descriptions with conversation types, but Snippets add an extra layer of flexibility in terms of what you templatize!)

  • Leaving notes for co-workers: for repeated scenarios requiring your co-workers' attention

How to create Snippets

  1. Go to the "Settings" Global Tool and select "Snippets" (within the "General" section)

  2. In the top right corner click on "+ New Snippet". This will open a form to fill in:

  3. Once you have populated the Title and Description fields (and decided whether to make your Snippet "public"), press the "Save" button, and your Snippet is ready to use! πŸ™Œ

How to use Snippets

Simply press # in any Task, Conversation or Note, click on the relevant Snippet in the dropdown, and watch your Snippet text appear as if by magic! If you have lots of Snippets, you can select one faster by starting to type its title after you type #.
