Summary
Field Groups enable you to select and organize fields in Profiles: identify which are the most important, and group them into categories such as "Revenue Data"
You configure Field Groups as part of Profile Templates, so you can specify which Field Groups display for different types of records (e.g. different types of Companies) or Users (of Planhat - you and your colleagues - e.g. Sales team v. CSM team)
Featured Field Groups are always shown in the relevant Profiles, whereas unfeatured ones can be displayed with a click
You can also configure individual fields to display in a "full width" format
Who is this article for?
This article is particularly relevant to Planhat builders/admins who configure their tenant for their team (e.g. CS Ops)

Read on if you'd like to learn about Profile Field Groups - a component of Profile Templates. Ensure you read our article introducing Profile Templates before this one, so you are familiar with the context of where these Profile Field Groups are used.
If you would simply like a general introduction to Profiles, check out our article here.
What are Profile Field Groups?
Let's take a closer look at the "Field Groups" tab in a Profile Template.
What you specify here determines which fields are shown in a Profile (and in which order) when the "Fields" section/widget is included in a Profile Template (in the "Profile" tab).
Field Groups enable you to organize your fields for each model: identify which are the most important, and group them into categories such as "Revenue Data".
Because you configure Field Groups in each Profile Template, this means you can display different fields in different situations (for different types of records/Users) - while all the time still using the same "Fields" widget/section in the Profile Template layout.
We show you an example of what the configured Field Groups look like in a Profile later in this article.
How to configure Profile Field Groups in a Profile Template
When you're setting up a Profile Template, select the "Field Group" tab in the dropdown menu at the top.
Click "+ Add new Group", and you will see 4 different types of Field Groups to choose from:
Featured - a group of fields that always displays in the Profile
Standard - a group of fields that will be nested under "More" in the Profile
Featured Full Width - an individual field that you want to display right across the Profile. This is great for fields that house a lot of data (e.g. a rich text field for comments), or that are particularly important and you want to highlight
Standard Full Width - like "Featured Full Width" above, but nested under "More"
All the fields on the model that aren't included in a Field Group will be listed in "More" in the Profile.
Once you have selected a Field Group type:
For a regular (not full width) Field Group:
Click "+ Add Field" within the Field Group to add more fields
You can drag and drop fields within the Field Group to change their order
Click the "x" for a field if you would like to remove it from the Field Group
Click into the name of the Field Group to type in a new name
For full width Field Groups:
You can only select one field here
The name of the Field Group is simply the name of the field
Repeat the process to add more Field Groups.
What Field Groups look like in a Profile
Let's see what the different types of Field Groups look like in practice.
The screenshot below shows a Company Profile Template with one each of these Field Groups.
If we take a look at an example Company Profile (i.e. a record) using this Template, when it's initially opened, the fields look like this - you can see the featured Field Groups:
Mousing over the fields area, "More" appears ...
... and clicking on that, it opens up the full fields list, as shown below. You can see the featured Field Groups at the top, then the non-featured ("standard") Field Groups, and at the bottom, the fields that aren't in Field Groups are listed under "Other Fields".
Additional information and tips
You can drag and drop Field Groups (using the symbol of 6 dots) in a Profile Template if you want to change their order - the order will be reflected in Profiles viewed using this Template. Note, however, that featured Field Groups are always above non-featured ("standard") Field Groups
Although you select between featured and standard (non-featured) when you first create a Field Group, you can feature or un-feature an existing Field Group via the toggle switches (shown in the screenshot above - orange means enabled and therefore featured)
To delete a Field Group, simply click on the trash can (bin) icon to the right of it (as shown in the screenshot above)
