Introduction

You'll likely be using Planhat throughout your working day, navigating between a wide range of features and data sets.

For example, let's say you go to Data Explorer, open up the Full-Page Profile of a Company you see there, view its End Users tab and click on a particular End User, and then remember you have some Tasks to complete today so click on Calendar, and so on.

Especially if you have been clicking around a lot, sometimes you might want to quickly jump back to what you were looking before - a bit like a "back" button.

Well, "History" is the answer here! It's actually more advanced than a simple "back" button, because it goes back further in time, with a clear history divided into dates, so you can quickly jump back to a Page or a Company you were looking at a few days ago, for example, even if you've done lots in Planhat since then. This is particularly useful if you can't remember the details of where you were in Planhat before.

Where to find History

You can access History via the clock icon, displayed immediately to the right of the Federated Search box in the top gray bar in your Planhat tenant.

It's a tenant-level feature, and is available regardless of what you are looking at (where you have navigated to) within Planhat, and regardless of what Role/permissions you have.

What's included in History?

History is really broad - it includes a wide variety of things you could have looked at within Planhat, rather than having a narrow scope. It includes:

... basically anything with a specific URL in Planhat will be listed here. Why don't you click around in your Planhat tenant and try it for yourself?

Short-form History

When you click on the clock icon, this will open a small modal where you can see what you have most recently been looking at in Planhat.

This condensed view is a super simple, quick and easy way to check out what you have recently visited in Planhat, without taking you away from what you're doing at in Planhat right now - unless you choose to navigate to a History item, as described below.

As well as the item names, the icons next to each item will help you to identify each of them at a glance.

You have a choice of two actions from here:

  • You can click on any of the items in the list to jump straight there

    • For example, if I was looking at our End User Elton John earlier today, to get back to his Profile, rather than having to search for him, I could click on the clock (i.e. click on History), and then click on his name in the list

  • If you want to see an expanded view of History - more items in the list, and details of when you looked at each item - then click "Show More" at the bottom

    • See the next part of this article for further details!

Long-form History

If you would like to look further back into your history, or you would like additional details about exactly what you viewed and when, you can click "Show More" (shown at the bottom of the screenshot above) to open up the long-form version of History.

Here's an example of what this can look like:

In this longer-form view, as well as seeing more items, everything is broken down into specific days/times, making it easy for you to identify what you're looking for within the long list.

For example, you might remember that you were looking at a particular Company Profile yesterday, but you can't recall their name. Here you can very quickly view yesterday's History and identify that Company.

Like you saw with the short-form History, this list is interactive rather than read-only - simply click on any item in the list to jump to it in Planhat.
